Sääilmastotutkimus, known in English as weather and climate research, is the scientific study of atmospheric phenomena. It encompasses both the immediate state of the atmosphere, which we experience as weather, and the long-term patterns of atmospheric conditions, known as climate. This field draws upon a variety of disciplines including physics, chemistry, mathematics, and geography to understand the complex processes that govern our planet's atmosphere.

The primary goals of weather research include forecasting short-term weather events, such as temperature changes, precipitation, and wind patterns.
