Rückströmungsschutz
Rückströmungsschutz, also known as backflow prevention, refers to a set of devices and methods employed to prevent the undesirable reversal of flow in a piping system. This reversal, termed backflow, can occur due to a difference in pressure between two connected systems, where the higher pressure pushes fluid from one system into another where it is not intended. Such contamination can be a significant hazard, particularly in potable water systems where non-potable substances could enter the clean water supply.
The primary purpose of Rückströmungsschutz is to safeguard public health and the integrity of industrial processes
Various devices are used to achieve Rückströmungsschutz. These range from simple vacuum breakers and check valves
