Röntgenkristallographie

Röntgenkristal, also known as a transmission electron diffraction pattern, is a visual representation of the crystallographic structure of a material. It is produced when a beam of electrons is transmitted through a thin crystalline sample. As the electrons pass through the crystal lattice, they interact with the atoms, causing them to diffract. This diffraction pattern, consisting of a series of spots or rings, is then projected onto a screen or detector.

The arrangement and spacing of these spots or rings in a Röntgenkristal are directly related to the arrangement and spacing of atoms within the crystal. Each spot corresponds to a specific set of crystal planes, and the distance of the spot from the center of the pattern is inversely proportional to the spacing between those planes. By analyzing the positions and intensities of these diffraction spots, crystallographers can determine the unit cell dimensions, crystal system, and orientation of the crystal. Different crystalline materials produce unique Röntgenkristal patterns, making it a powerful tool for material identification and characterization. This technique is widely used in fields such as materials science, solid-state physics, and chemistry to study the structure of metals, ceramics, polymers, and biological macromolecules.
