Ruutmeetrit

Ruutmeetrit, written ruutmeetrit in Estonian and abbreviated as m², is the SI unit of area. It is defined as the area of a square with sides of exactly one meter, making it a derived unit based on the meter. As a two-dimensional measure, it applies to flat surfaces such as floors, walls, and land plots.

In everyday life and technical fields, ruutmeetrit is used to describe the size of rooms, apartments, yards, and geographic areas. For example, a room measuring 4 meters by 5 meters has an area of 20 m².

Conversions and scale: 1 m² equals 10,000 square centimeters (cm²) and 1,000,000 square millimeters (mm²). A hectare equals 10,000 m², and a square kilometer equals 1,000,000 m². In imperial units, 1 m² is about 10.764 square feet.
