Donald Henry Rumsfeld (born 1932) is an American politician and businessman who served as the 65th United States Secretary of Defense from 1975 to 1977 under President Gerald Ford. He is the son of former Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson and the brother of former Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger. Rumsfeld's tenure as Secretary of Defense was marked by his advocacy for a strong military and his support for the Vietnam War. He is known for his controversial statement "Reality is what you can get away with" during a press conference in 1972, which has since become a popular quote.
