In this view, a rodmorfemet sits between the root and the morpheme: it carries semantic content like a root but also bears or attracts certain inflectional or derivational markers, without being a fully independent stem. The term is a neologism formed from 'root' and 'morpheme' with the suffix '-met', and it has not achieved broad consensus in linguistic communities.

In proposed analyses, rodmorfemet elements are hypothesized to be the minimal carriers of both lexical content and morphosyntactic function in certain languages or theoretical models. They may participate in word formation through either affixation or compounding, and can host multiple markers while preserving recognizable core meaning.

For illustration, in a hypothetical language, a rodmorfemet representing the semantic content 'water' might appear in forms with a plural suffix '-s' or a diminutive '-let', with the core 'water' meaning preserved. The markers attach to the rodmorfemet and function together with the core meaning.
