Riverlight

Riverlight is a fictional waterfront district created as a case study in sustainable urban redevelopment. It is designed as a mixed-use community that integrates housing, commerce, and public space along a river.

The district spans about 2.5 square kilometers along a meandering river and is organized around a central transit spine. It includes residential neighborhoods, a town center, parks, and a continuous riverfront promenade.

The master plan emphasizes flood resilience, compact density, pedestrian priority, and green infrastructure. Buildings combine housing with ground-floor retail or services, and street networks favor walking and cycling.

Projects incorporate energy-efficient design, green roofs, rain gardens, and permeable surfaces. Public spaces include a civic plaza, markets, a library annex, and cultural venues connected by a network of pedestrian corridors.

Riverlight is depicted as governed by a city council with a development corporation coordinating public-private partnerships. The conceptual approach aims to create jobs and livability, while discussions address affordability and equity in redevelopment.
