Riigikogust

Riigikogust is an Estonian grammatical form meaning “from the Riigikogu.” It is the elative case of the noun Riigikogu, which refers to the Estonian Parliament, the unicameral national legislature. The form is used in official language and media to indicate origin or authority, as in documents, rulings, or statements that come from the Parliament.

The Riigikogu consists of 101 members who are elected for four-year terms by proportional representation. Its primary functions include drafting and enacting legislation, approving the state budget, ratifying international treaties, and overseeing the executive branch. Through parliamentary committees, it monitors government activities and can initiate motions of confidence or censure, depending on the constitutional framework.
