Ribpatterning
Ribpatterning refers to the developmental process by which ribs form and develop their characteristic segmented arrangement within the vertebral column of vertebrates. This process is a complex interplay of genetic signals and cellular interactions that occurs during embryonic development. Initially, the vertebral column arises from somites, blocks of mesodermal tissue that segment off the paraxial mesoderm. Each somite then differentiates into several components, including the sclerotome, which gives rise to the vertebrae and ribs.
The formation of ribs involves the outgrowth of mesenchymal cells from the developing vertebrae. These outgrowths
