Reoxidise

Reoxidise is a term used in chemistry to describe the process where a substance that has been reduced is returned to a higher oxidation state. This typically involves the removal of electrons from the substance. In many chemical reactions, oxidation and reduction occur simultaneously in a process known as a redox reaction. Therefore, reoxidising a substance is essentially the oxidation half of a redox reaction.

Common oxidizing agents are used to reoxidise substances. These agents themselves become reduced in the process. Examples of oxidizing agents include oxygen, halogens, and various metal ions.
