Recevras

Recevras is the second person singular form in the future simple tense of the French verb recevoir, meaning “you will receive.” It is used when addressing someone informal (tu) about a future event in which they will receive something.

Formation and relationship to other forms: The verb recevoir is irregular in many tenses, but in the future simple it uses the stem recevr- plus personal endings. The form for tu is recevras. The full future simple paradigm is: je recevrai, tu recevras, il recevra, nous recevrons, vous recevrez, ils recevront. The stem recevr- is created by using the infinitive form and replacing -evoir with -evr- in the future construction.

Usage and examples: Recevras expresses a definite future action toward the direct object. It is common in everyday speech. Examples include: Tu recevras une lettre demain. (You will receive a letter tomorrow.) Tu recevras peut-être une réponse après l’entretien. (You may receive a response after the interview.)

Notes: In negative or question forms, the usual negation and inversion rules apply: Tu ne recevras pas le colis aujourd’hui. Recevras-tu l’invitation? The form is distinct from the correspondingconditional form, tu recevrais, which would mean “you would receive.”
