Reaktiossäiliön

Reaktiossäiliön is a feature used in Swimming or Triathlon competition pools. It is essentially a managing overflow of water between two or more of the adjacent pools. The principle of reaktiossäiliön is quite simple.

In longer pool race tracks having adjacent pools, once you're using the same path in the same direction, water from one pool tends to flow in the adjacent pools, especially if you're turning in the same direction. This means that the adjacent pool will gain, more water than the involving pool which results in smooth flow of water throughout the lanes. However, when you are turning the opposite direction the pool you are swimming in will lose more water and while the opposite pool will gain this makes the racing very uneven and can cause discomfort and unbalanced competition.
