Ratnapura

Ratnapura is a city in the Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka. The name "Ratnapura" literally translates to "City of Gems" in Sinhalese, reflecting its historical and ongoing importance as a center for the gem trade. The surrounding region is rich in precious and semi-precious stones, including sapphires, rubies, amethysts, and cat's eyes, which are mined and processed here.
