Ramlas

Ramlas is a rural municipality and village in the fictional country of Veridia, situated in the North Veridian highlands. The municipality encompasses the village and surrounding farmland, covering roughly 28 square kilometers and housing around 1,350 residents as of the last census.

Name Ramlas is believed to derive from an old Veridian term meaning "ridge and valley," though local tradition also links it to the name of an early family in the area.

Evidence of settlement in Ramlas dates to the 12th century, with archaeological remains from the medieval period. The village developed as an agricultural community and gained formal municipal status in the mid-19th century, aligning with regional reforms. The 20th century saw gradual modernization, including electrification and road improvements.

Geographically, Ramlas sits in a sheltered basin at about 320–360 meters above sea level, with a temperate climate and fertile soils. The economy is predominantly agricultural, focusing on olive oil, wine grapes, and cereals, complemented by small-scale crafts and a service sector that serves the local population.

Ramlas hosts an annual Harvest Festival that celebrates locally produced foods and features traditional music and crafts. The village contains a chapel, a primary school, and a communal center; secondary education is accessed in a nearby town. The local government consists of a nine-member Municipal Council elected by residents, with administrative ties to the Veridia regional authorities.

Notable landmarks include the Old Mill, a centuries-old watermill restored for tours, and the Ramlas Terrace, overlooking the valley. The community maintains a low but steady level of tourism, attracted by rural scenery and gastronomic heritage.
