Radiobärare

Radiobärare is a Swedish term that translates to "radio carrier" or "radio bearer." In the context of radio communication, it refers to the electromagnetic wave that is used to transmit information. This carrier wave is a high-frequency radio wave that is modulated, meaning its properties such as amplitude, frequency, or phase are altered to encode the desired signal, such as voice or data.

The concept of a radiobärare is fundamental to radio transmission. Without a carrier wave, it would be impossible to send signals over long distances. The carrier wave acts as a vehicle, allowing the information-carrying signal to propagate through the atmosphere or space. The specific frequency of the carrier wave determines which part of the radio spectrum is used for transmission, and this is often regulated by governmental bodies to prevent interference between different radio services.

Different modulation techniques are employed to impress information onto the radiobärare. Amplitude Modulation (AM) varies the amplitude of the carrier wave, while Frequency Modulation (FM) varies its frequency. Phase Modulation (PM) alters the phase of the carrier wave.
