Radar technology, an acronym for Radio Detection and Ranging, is a system used to detect objects and determine their range, angle, or velocity. It employs radio waves to achieve this, transmitting electromagnetic pulses and then analyzing the echoes that return after reflecting off an object. The time it takes for the echo to return, along with its frequency shift, provides crucial information about the target.

The fundamental principle involves a transmitter sending out radio waves and a receiver detecting the reflected waves. The direction from which the echoes are received indicates the object's bearing, while the time delay reveals its distance. The Doppler effect, a change in frequency due to relative motion, allows for the determination of the object's speed.

Radar systems have a wide array of applications. In meteorology, they are vital for tracking weather patterns, detecting storms, and forecasting precipitation.
