Rückkopplungseffekten, also known as feedback effects, are phenomena where the output of a system influences its input. This can lead to either amplification or attenuation of the initial change, depending on the nature of the feedback.

Positive feedback effects occur when the output of a system reinforces or amplifies the initial input. This can lead to rapid growth or instability. A common example is the microphone and speaker setup where sound from the speaker is picked up by the microphone, amplified, and replayed, leading to a loud, high-pitched squeal. In economics, a stock market bubble can be seen as a positive feedback loop, where rising prices encourage more buying, which further drives up prices.

Negative feedback effects occur when the output of a system counteracts or dampens the initial input. This typically leads to stability and regulation. Thermostats are a classic example; when the temperature rises above a set point, the thermostat turns off the heating system, thus reducing the temperature. In biology, the regulation of blood sugar levels is a complex negative feedback system involving hormones like insulin and glucagon.

Feedback effects are a fundamental concept found across many scientific disciplines, including physics, biology, engineering, economics, and social sciences.
