Rõngaspookimine

Rõngaspookimine, also known as ring spinning, is a fundamental process in textile manufacturing used to produce spun yarn. It involves the continuous drafting of a sliver, a loosely assembled rove of fibers, and its subsequent twisting into a yarn. The term "rõngaspookimine" directly translates to "ring spinning" in Estonian, reflecting its widespread application.

The core mechanism of ring spinning is the ring and traveler system. The drafted sliver is fed into a spindle that rotates at high speed. A small metal traveler, which encircles the ring, is carried along by the spindle's rotation. As the yarn is formed, it passes through the traveler and is wound onto the spindle's package. The traveler's movement and the spindle's rotation impart twist to the fibers, binding them together to create a continuous strand of yarn.

This method allows for precise control over yarn strength, twist level, and count. It is capable of producing a wide range of yarn types from various natural and synthetic fibers.
