Quasiketols

Quasiketols are a class of organic compounds that exhibit properties reminiscent of both ketones and alcohols, but are structurally distinct from both. The name "quasiketal" is derived from the Greek word "quasi," meaning "almost" or "as if," highlighting their partial resemblance to ketals. While a true ketal is formed from the reaction of a ketone with two equivalents of an alcohol, quasiketols involve a more complex arrangement where a carbonyl group is adjacent to a carbon atom bearing a hydroxyl group and a carbon-carbon double bond.
