QUADAS2

QUADAS2, or the QUantitative Analysis of Data from Acute Stroke Treatment Analysis of Reperfusion (TRIAL) 2, is a substudy of the larger REPERFUSION OF ACUTE ISCHEMIC STROKE (SYNTAX) trial. The SYNTAX trial itself investigated the efficacy of endovascular thrombectomy in treating acute ischemic stroke. QUADAS2 specifically focused on analyzing quantitative imaging data derived from this trial, aiming to better understand the relationship between reperfusion, imaging biomarkers, and clinical outcomes.

The substudy collected and analyzed detailed imaging information, including perfusion imaging and CT angiography, from patients enrolled in the SYNTAX trial. This quantitative approach allowed researchers to assess factors such as the volume of ischemic core, the size of the penumbra (tissue at risk but potentially salvageable), and the degree of reperfusion achieved after treatment. By correlating these quantitative imaging parameters with patient outcomes, such as modified Rankin Scale scores at 90 days, QUADAS2 sought to identify imaging predictors of successful treatment and potential responders to reperfusion therapy. The findings from QUADAS2 contribute to a deeper understanding of the pathophysiology of acute stroke and the optimization of endovascular treatment strategies.
