Päättyvyyttä is a Finnish term that translates to "finiteness" or "boundedness" in English. It refers to the state of having limits or an end. In mathematics, päättyvyyttä is a fundamental concept used in various branches. For instance, in set theory, a finite set is one that has a finite number of elements, meaning its cardinality is a natural number. Conversely, an infinite set is one that is not finite.

In calculus and analysis, the concept of päättyvyyttä appears in discussions of limits, convergence, and integrals. A sequence is said to converge if its terms approach a finite limit as the index tends to infinity. Similarly, a function is continuous on a closed interval if it is bounded and attains its maximum and minimum values within that interval.
