Pääsuojamaadoituskiskoon, often translated as main protective earthing bar or main earthing terminal, is a critical component in electrical installations. Its primary function is to serve as a central connection point for all protective earthing conductors within a building or electrical system. This ensures that any fault current is safely directed to the earth, preventing dangerous voltage buildup on conductive surfaces.

The main protective earthing bar is typically made of a conductive material, such as brass or copper, and is designed to accommodate multiple connections. Each protective earthing conductor originating from different circuits, equipment, and metallic structures is terminated at this bar. This establishes an equipotential bonding system, meaning that all connected conductive parts are brought to the same electrical potential.

The installation of a pääsuojamaadoituskiskoon is mandated by electrical safety regulations in most countries. It is usually located at the main incoming point of the electrical supply, often near the main switchboard or distribution panel. Proper grounding of the main protective earthing bar is essential for the effective operation of protective devices like circuit breakers and residual current devices (RCDs).
