Purkituksella is a Finnish term that broadly refers to the process of preserving food items by sealing them in containers, typically jars or cans, for extended storage. This method relies on creating an airtight environment that prevents spoilage by microorganisms such as bacteria, yeasts, and molds. The primary mechanism behind purkituksella is often heat sterilization, where the food and its container are heated to a temperature sufficient to kill or inactivate these spoilage agents.
