Publieke

Publieke is the attributive form of the Dutch adjective publiek, meaning "public" or "belonging to the people." It is used before a noun to express that something concerns, is provided by, or is accessible to the public or the state. Common collocations include de publieke sector (the public sector), publieke omroep (public broadcasting), publieke ruimte (public space), and publieke dienstverlening (public services).

In Dutch, publiek can also function as a noun meaning "the public" or "the audience." Examples include het publiek (the audience) and het publieke, as in discussions about what the public thinks. The adjective form publieke is used with definite or indefinite nouns in standard constructions, for example de publieke sector and een publieke ruimte.
