Prüfsummenverfahren
Prüfsummenverfahren, or checksum methods, are techniques used to detect errors that may have been introduced during data transmission or storage. The core principle involves calculating a short, fixed-size string of data, known as a checksum, from a larger block of data. This checksum is then appended to the original data. When the data is received or read, the checksum is recalculated using the same algorithm. If the recalculated checksum matches the original checksum, it is highly probable that the data is error-free. If the checksums do not match, it indicates that an error has occurred.
Various algorithms exist for calculating checksums, each with different levels of error detection capabilities. Simple checksums
