Protolysoitunut

Protolysoitunut is a Finnish term that describes a state of being deprotonated or having undergone protolysis. Protolysis is a chemical reaction where a proton (H+) is transferred from one molecule or ion to another. In the context of protolysoitunut, it specifically refers to a substance that has lost a proton. This typically occurs when a Brønsted-Lowry acid donates a proton to a Brønsted-Lowry base.

For example, when an acid like hydrochloric acid (HCl) is dissolved in water, it donates a proton to a water molecule. The HCl becomes a chloride ion (Cl-), which is the protolysoitunut form of HCl. The water molecule accepts the proton and becomes a hydronium ion (H3O+). Similarly, in a neutralization reaction, an acid is protolysoitunut by a base.
