There are different types of process control systems, including open-loop, closed-loop, and adaptive control systems. Open-loop systems operate without feedback, relying solely on the initial input. Closed-loop systems, also known as feedback control systems, use feedback from the process to adjust the control actions. Adaptive control systems adjust their control strategy based on changes in the process dynamics.

In recent years, advancements in technology have led to the development of more sophisticated process control systems, including distributed control systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). These systems offer greater flexibility, scalability, and integration capabilities, enabling more complex and efficient process control.
