Proportionerede

Proportionerede is the past participle form of the Danish verb proportionere, meaning to adjust quantities so that their relative proportions remain constant. In English, it is often translated as proportioned. The term is used to describe actions or results where components of a whole are scaled while maintaining the same ratios.

It appears in cooking, chemistry, design, manufacturing, and statistics, where maintaining proportion is important. In cooking, proportionerede quantities keep flavor balance when servings are increased or decreased. In design and color theory, it ensures consistent visual balance when dimensions or hues are scaled. In data presentation, proportionerede samples maintain the original distribution when the dataset is resized.

How it works: The scaling factor r is the ratio of the new total T' to the original total T. Each component ai becomes ai' = ai × r. For a recipe, example: original A=200 g, B=150 g (total 350 g). Proportionerede to 700 g gives A'=400 g, B'=300 g. In multi-ingredient cases, apply the same factor to all ingredients to preserve ratios.

Limitations: Real-world constraints may affect linear scaling. In cooking, taste or texture may require adjustments beyond simple scaling; in chemistry or packaging, there may be non-linear effects or minimum/maximum thresholds.
