Proportionalräkare

A proportionalräkare, often translated as a proportional calculator or adder, is a type of mechanical calculator. These devices were designed to perform calculations based on the principle of proportionality. They typically employed gears and other mechanical components to represent and manipulate numerical values. The core functionality of a proportionalräkare allowed users to set up ratios and then determine unknown values based on those ratios.

The operation of a proportionalräkare involved setting two known values in proportion to each other on a scale or through a series of dials.
