Primäärimarkkinoiden
Primäärimarkkinoiden, or primary markets, are financial markets where new securities are issued and sold for the first time. This is where companies and governments raise capital by selling stocks and bonds directly to investors. The initial public offering (IPO) of a company's stock is a classic example of a primary market transaction. In this scenario, the company works with investment banks, known as underwriters, who help determine the offering price and find buyers for the new shares. The proceeds from these sales go directly to the issuer, providing them with the funds needed for expansion, debt repayment, or other corporate purposes. Primary markets are crucial for economic growth as they facilitate the flow of capital from savers to borrowers and innovators. Without primary markets, it would be significantly more difficult for entities to raise the substantial amounts of money required for large-scale projects and ventures. After the initial sale in the primary market, these securities can then be traded on secondary markets, such as stock exchanges, where investors buy and sell existing securities from each other.
