Primärmolaren

Primärmolaren, also known as deciduous molars or baby molars, are the first set of molar teeth to erupt in the human mouth. These teeth are part of the primary dentition, which consists of 20 teeth in total. The primary dentition includes incisors, canines, and molars. The primary molars are located in the posterior part of the mouth, behind the primary canines.

There are typically four primary molars in total, two in the upper jaw (maxilla) and two in the lower jaw (mandible). They are distinguished as the first primary molar and the second primary molar on each side. These teeth play a crucial role in the initial stages of chewing and are important for guiding the eruption of the permanent teeth.

The primary molars are generally smaller and have a less complex structure than their permanent successors. They have broader, flatter chewing surfaces designed for grinding food. The roots of primary molars are also shorter and more divergent than those of permanent molars, which helps to accommodate the developing permanent teeth underneath them.

The eruption of primary molars typically begins around 12 to 18 months of age for the first primary molars and around 18 to 24 months for the second primary molars. They are eventually replaced by the permanent premolars as the child grows. Premolars are the teeth that emerge in the same location as the primary molars. Therefore, the health of primary molars is vital for proper jaw development and the correct alignment of permanent teeth.
