Premixpõlemisega

Premixpõlemisega is a combustion process where fuel and air are mixed together before entering the combustion chamber. This contrasts with diffusion combustion, where fuel and air mix within the flame zone. In premixed combustion, a homogeneous mixture of fuel and air is created, leading to a more uniform and often faster burning process. This type of combustion is utilized in various applications, including gas turbines, internal combustion engines, and some industrial burners.

The key advantage of premixpõlemisega is its potential for reduced emissions, particularly NOx. By controlling the fuel-air ratio and temperature, it is possible to minimize the formation of these pollutants. However, achieving stable premixed combustion can be challenging, as it is prone to issues like flashback, where the flame propagates back into the premixing zone, and combustion instabilities, which can lead to noise and structural damage.

Various techniques are employed to manage these challenges. For instance, staged combustion can be used, where only a portion of the fuel is premixed and burned initially, with the remaining fuel added later. Lean premixed combustion, where the air-fuel ratio is significantly above stoichiometric, is a common approach to lower combustion temperatures and thus reduce NOx formation. The design of the burner or combustion chamber plays a crucial role in ensuring proper mixing and flame stability.
