Potentiometriset refers to methods used in analytical chemistry that involve measuring an electrical potential difference. This technique is central to potentiometry, a type of electrochemical analysis. Potentiometric measurements typically involve an indicator electrode, which responds to the activity of a specific ion in solution, and a reference electrode, which maintains a constant potential. The difference in potential between these two electrodes is then measured.

The potential measured is directly related to the concentration or activity of the analyte ion, often described by the Nernst equation.
