Postvetrigheder

Postvetrigheder is a term that emerged in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, broadly referring to the complex societal and psychological aftermath experienced by individuals and the collective following the Velvet Revolution of 1989. This period marked the end of communist rule in Czechoslovakia, ushering in a transition to democracy and a market economy.

The postvetrigheder era is characterized by a range of challenges and adjustments. Economically, the transition involved privatization, market liberalization, and a significant shift in employment structures, which led to both opportunities and difficulties for many citizens. Socially, the dismantling of the previous regime brought about newfound freedoms but also exposed underlying societal divisions and created new ones.
