PortZuordnung is a German term that translates to "port assignment" or "port mapping" in English. It refers to the process of associating a specific network port with a particular application, service, or device. In computer networking, ports are numerical identifiers used to distinguish between different communication endpoints on a single host. When data arrives at a computer, the port number helps the operating system determine which application should receive that data.

PortZuordnung is crucial for network communication to function correctly. For example, web servers typically listen on port 80 for HTTP traffic and port 443 for HTTPS traffic. When a web browser sends a request to a website, it sends the request to the web server's IP address on one of these well-known ports.
