Poraustulos is a proposed but not yet definitively classified biological entity. The term originated in speculative scientific discussions concerning the potential existence of extremely resilient and self-replicating structures capable of surviving in environments previously considered inhospitable to life. These hypothetical entities are theorized to possess a unique form of biological organization, distinct from known cellular life.

The concept of poraustulos emerged from considering the limits of extremophile survival and the theoretical possibilities of abiogenesis under unusual chemical and physical conditions. Proponents suggest that such entities might be composed of complex organic molecules or even inorganic compounds organized in a way that allows for rudimentary metabolic processes and replication.
