Promoters in this sense include chemical initiators and catalysts, co-catalysts, and photo- or redox-initiating systems that lower activation barriers or supply reactive species more efficiently. Radical polymerizations commonly use initiators such as azobisisobutyronitrile or peroxides, while photoinitiators generate radicals under light exposure.
