Polttoainekysyntä

Polttoainekysyntä is the process by which internal combustion engines in vehicles draw in and mix fuel and air in the correct proportions before igniting it inside the engine's combustion chamber. This process is essential for the efficient operation of the engine and ensuring that the engine receives the perfect air-fuel mixture.

The intaken air is drawn into the engine through the air filter and collides with the fuel injected into the intake manifold. The fuel injector sprays a precise amount of fuel into the intake manifold, where it is mixed with the air. The resulting mixture is composed of the ideal ratio of fuel to air for combustion, usually around 14.7:1 air-to-fuel ratio.

The fuel-air mixture is then drawn into the engine's cylinders through the intake valve, where it is compressed and then ignited by a spark plug in a gasoline engine, resulting in a power stroke. In a diesel engine, the fuel and air mixture is drawn into the cylinder, where it is compressed to the point of self-ignition, resulting in a power stroke.

The correct air-fuel ratio is critical to achieving maximum engine performance and efficiency, while also minimizing exhaust emissions. Too much fuel can lead to poor engine performance and excessive emissions, while too little fuel can result in engine misfires and reduced performance. The fuel injection system in modern vehicles is designed to precisely control the air-fuel mixture, ensuring that the engine receives the correct ratio of fuel to air for optimal performance and efficiency.
