Poistumisjohtopäistä refers to the Finnish term for exit polls. These are surveys conducted by media organizations or research firms on election day, immediately after voters have cast their ballots. The primary purpose of exit polls is to provide early indications of election results and to understand the demographic and attitudinal characteristics of the electorate.

Voters are approached as they leave polling stations and asked to answer a short questionnaire about their voting decisions, demographic information, and sometimes their opinions on key issues. Exit polls are a valuable tool for political analysis and journalistic reporting, offering a quick snapshot of the electoral landscape. However, they are not without their limitations.
