Podillyas

Podillyas, also known as Podillya, is a historical and geographical region in Ukraine, located in the southern part of the country. The name "Podillya" is derived from the Ukrainian word "podil," which means "below" or "lower," referring to the region's lower elevation compared to the higher lands of the Dnieper River. The region is bordered by the Dnieper River to the north, the Black Sea to the south, and the Carpathian Mountains to the east.

Podillya is known for its rich history and cultural heritage. It has been inhabited since ancient times, with evidence of human settlement dating back to the Neolithic era. The region has been part of various historical entities, including the Scythian kingdom, the Roman Empire, the Kievan Rus', the Golden Horde, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the Russian Empire. Today, Podillya is part of the Odesa Oblast, one of Ukraine's 24 administrative regions.
