Pintaaktiivisilla

Pintaaktiivisilla, also known as surfactants, are compounds that lower the surface tension between two liquids, between a gas and a liquid, or between a liquid and a solid. This reduction in surface tension allows the two substances to mix more easily. Pintaaktiivisilla molecules have a dual nature, possessing both a hydrophilic (water-attracting) head and a hydrophobic (water-repelling) tail. This amphiphilic structure is key to their function. In food production, they act as emulsifiers, preventing oil and water from separating in products like mayonnaise and salad dressings. They are also found in cosmetics, paints, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural products, where they can improve spreading, wetting, and foaming properties.
