Hot water is then forced through the pod under pressure, extracting the coffee and delivering it directly into a waiting mug. The convenience factor is a major selling point for these machines. Users can quickly make a cup of coffee without needing to measure grounds, filter paper, or clean a large carafe. The variety of coffee types, roasts, and even other beverages available in pod form also appeals to consumers with diverse preferences.

However, pikakahvinkeittimet also face criticism. The environmental impact of the disposable pods is a significant concern, as many are not easily recyclable and contribute to landfill waste. Additionally, the cost per cup of coffee from a pod machine can be higher compared to traditional brewing methods.
