Phosphinamides
Phosphinamides are a class of organophosphorus compounds characterized by a phosphorus atom bonded to a nitrogen atom. More specifically, they are amides of phosphinous acid, meaning the general formula is R2P(O)NR'2 or R2P(NR'2)X, where R and R' represent organic substituents and X is a leaving group. The most common form features a phosphoryl group (P=O) where the oxygen is replaced by a nitrogen atom, or a phosphinoyl group (P=O) where one of the P-R bonds is replaced by a P-N bond. These compounds are structurally related to phosphine oxides and phosphinamidates.
Phosphinamides exhibit a range of chemical properties depending on the nature of the R and R' substituents.
