Pessac-Léognan is a prestigious wine appellation located south of the city of Bordeaux in the Gironde department of France. It is renowned for producing both exceptional red and white wines, a distinction shared with few other Bordeaux appellations. The area benefits from a gravelly soil that drains well, ideal for viticulture, and a maritime climate influenced by the Atlantic Ocean.

The appellation's history is deeply intertwined with Bordeaux winemaking traditions, with vineyards dating back centuries. It was formerly part of the Graves appellation but was granted its own distinct AOC status in 1987, recognizing the unique quality and character of its wines.
