Perusöljyyn

Perusöljyyn refers to base oils, which are the foundational components of lubricants. These oils, whether derived from petroleum, synthetic processes, or even vegetable sources, form the majority of a lubricant's volume, typically between 70% and 99%. The specific type of base oil significantly influences the lubricant's performance characteristics, such as viscosity, thermal stability, and detergency.

Petroleum-based base oils are the most common, derived from crude oil through refining processes. They are categorized into groups (Group I, II, III) based on their refining severity and characteristics. Synthetic base oils, such as polyalphaolefins (PAOs) and esters, are manufactured through chemical synthesis and generally offer superior performance in extreme temperatures and demanding applications compared to mineral oils. Vegetable oils, while less common for industrial lubricants, are used in some biodegradable applications.

The selection of a perusöljyyn is critical for formulating a lubricant that meets specific operational requirements. Additives are then blended into the base oil to enhance its properties, such as anti-wear, anti-oxidation, and corrosion protection, creating the final finished lubricant product. The interaction between the base oil and additives determines the overall effectiveness and lifespan of the lubricant.
