Perustuslainvastainen

Perustuslainvastainen is a Finnish term that translates to "unconstitutional" in English. It describes anything that conflicts with the Constitution of Finland, which is the fundamental law of the land. The Constitution outlines the basic principles of the Finnish state, the rights and freedoms of citizens, and the powers and responsibilities of different branches of government.

When a law, regulation, or governmental action is deemed perustuslainvastainen, it means it violates the provisions established in the Constitution. The Constitutional Law Committee of the Finnish Parliament (Eduskunta) plays a key role in reviewing proposed legislation for constitutionality. Courts, particularly the Supreme Administrative Court and the Supreme Court, also have the authority to review the constitutionality of laws and administrative decisions in specific cases.

If a piece of legislation or an administrative act is found to be perustuslainvastainen, it can be declared invalid or amended to comply with the Constitution.
