Perussävelten

Perussävelten, often translated as "basic tones" or "fundamental pitches," refers to the core set of notes that form the basis of Western musical scales and chords. In music theory, these are typically the seven notes of the diatonic scale: do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti, and then back to do an octave higher. These same notes correspond to C, D, E, F, G, A, B in the fixed-do system.

The concept of perussävelten is crucial for understanding melody and harmony. When these fundamental pitches are arranged in specific patterns, they create scales, such as the major scale and minor scale.
