Pergamentformat refers to the standard sizes and formats in which parchment was prepared and used for writing and artistic purposes. Parchment, a writing material made from animal skin, was typically produced in sheets of varying dimensions. These formats were not strictly standardized in the way modern paper sizes are, but rather evolved based on the available animal hides and the intended use of the parchment.

The most common format was a single sheet, often folded to create multiple pages. The size of these sheets could vary significantly, from small, hand-sized pieces for personal documents to large scrolls or folios for religious texts, legal records, or large-scale artwork. Larger formats were often achieved by joining multiple sheets together.
