Pelomové

Pelomové is a Czech-language term that can refer to several distinct concepts depending on the context. It is not a single, universally defined entity in modern reference works. The form is built from the root pelom- and the plural suffix -ové, a common pattern in Czech for naming groups or taxa.

In biology, pelomové has appeared as an informal designation in older protozoological or encyclopedic texts for certain amoeboid organisms associated with the genus Pelomyxa. In these sources, pelomové is used to indicate primitive or poorly differentiated amoebae. Contemporary taxonomy typically uses the formal genus Pelomyxa or higher taxonomic groups, and avoids the umbrella term pelomové outside of historical discussion.

In folklore or ethnography, pelomové has occasionally been used to denote a legendary or historical group attributed to a particular region by late 19th- and early 20th-century scholars. Such usages are rare today and are not considered reliable by mainstream scholarship.
