Patenttihakemuksen
A patenttihakemus, or patent application, is a formal request submitted to a national or regional patent office seeking legal protection for an invention. This protection, if granted, gives the inventor exclusive rights to prevent others from making, using, selling, or importing the invention for a limited period. The application must contain a detailed description of the invention, including how it works and its purpose. It also includes claims, which define the precise scope of the legal protection sought, and drawings, if necessary, to illustrate the invention. The applicant must demonstrate that the invention is new, involves an inventive step, and is capable of industrial application. Patent offices examine applications to ensure these criteria are met before granting a patent. The process can be complex and often involves multiple stages, including examination, potential objections from the patent examiner, and responses from the applicant. Once granted, the patent is published, making the details of the invention publicly available.
